Blog: Cross Country At The 2018 BUCS Championship

Charlotte Newell, Race Captain of the Athletics and Cross Country Club, provides us with details of their great performance at the 2018 BUCS Cross Country Championship.

On the 3 February, seven dedicated athletes traveled to Uxbridge to compete in the 2018 BUCS championships, with our president Tom Sanders coming as well to cheer us all on.

Despite the cold weather, which consisted of rain all day, Charlotte Newell, Eliza Jenkins, Emma Schrod, Catherine Lee and Anastasia Stone competed in a race 6.88km, with Anastasia finishing as the first RHUL girl with an impressive time of 37.43.0. For the boys race, Alex Nicholson and Harry Clayton completed 9.92 km with Alex finishing as the top RHUL boy with a time of 47.53.5.

The race was the muddiest we have ever ran and extremely difficult, involving a steep hill and a ditch full of water, but we all still had a fun day with impressive scores.

Next we have one more cross country race, varsity and then we will begin our track competitions, so Royal Holloway Athletics have lots to look forward to.
