This Thursday (28 February) at 10:00, a memorial ceremony will be held in the Meadow for Royal Holloway student, Callum Griffiths, who sadly passed away last summer.

For those who didn’t know Callum, he was a friendly, passionate, enthusiastic person, who threw himself at all opportunities while at University, and it is strange even now to remember that he is no longer with us.

The Humans vs Zombies (HvZ) society have spent the last six months working closely with the SU and the University’s Estates team to try and create a memorial to remember Callum by. The College wanted a memorial that could fit into the wider discussions they’ve been having about the creation of wellbeing, reflective, quiet spaces on campus, as part of their wider mental health campaign. And so, to reflect that, an engraved, circular memorial seat at the edge of the Meadow is being built in his memory.

Callum touched many people's lives, not just those in HvZ, so we want to make sure that all students know about this memorial for him. We hope as many of Callum’s friends can make it to remember him and honour his memory.

We also want to thank all the students who donated towards this memorial. It is because of you all that this could happen, and we hope that through this memorial, we can help other students who may be struggling with their mental health.

For Callum Griffiths, a dedicated and enthusiastic friend, missed by many and forever loved.
