We want to better understand how the cost-of-living crisis has impacted your student experience at Royal Holloway. Take the survey now and enter for a chance to win one of our ten cash prizes!
About the project
Today’s higher education students emerged from the coronavirus pandemic and began university at the height of the cost-of-living crisis. The Students’ Union launched our cost-of-living hub a few years ago to help students who are dealing with substantial financial pressures while undertaking their degree at Royal Holloway, but there is still work to be done in this area to better support current and prospective students.
The survey
Many of our Sabbatical Officer’s Priority 8 workstreams are centred around issues of affordability at Royal Holloway, and this survey will ask you about the ways the cost-of-living crisis has impacted various elements of your student experience. The survey will cover topics around general living costs, financial support at Royal Holloway, your experience with University and Students’ Union commercial outlets and how the cost-of-living crisis has affected your studies.
It is our aim that the results will help the Students’ Union find ways to work together with the University to reduce the financial and mental burden caused by the rising cost of living and create impactful change on campus.
If you have done the survey and want to come chat with SU President, Olivia, during Financial Support Week about your experience you can also take away a small prize. She’s running an SU on Tour on Monday, 10 November from 11:00-14:00. Get there early before they run out!
Cash prizes
There is a total of £425 worth of cash prizes to be won from this survey. That’s right! By participating in this survey, you could be in for a chance to win:
- Five £25 cash prizes
- Four £50 cash prizes
- And one lucky winner will get £100 cash prize after the survey closes!
To be eligible for a cash prize you need to complete the entire survey. We are asking for your student number to check student status and to email winners about the cash prize incentives while the survey is live. All answers will be anonymised before analysis.
We will be announcing winners over the next two weeks while the survey is live. The sooner you complete the survey, the more chances you have to win a prize!
Next steps
The survey will close at midnight on Sunday, 23 November. We will share the results with students when they return to campus in Term Two. We will also share the results with relevant Students’ Union and University stakeholders.
