About me
Hi everyone! My name’s David and I’m your Vice President Societies and Sport for the next academic year! I recently graduated with a degree in Film, TV, and Digital Production, but what made my time at Royal Holloway so enjoyable was the opportunity to get involved in numerous sports clubs and societies. I was a member of many of them and was also given the chance to photograph and film many of their events.
I am originally from Spain but was born in Rome (Italy) and have an English family (I don’t speak Italian yet*). I have a strong passion for cinematography, so if you ever have a cool thing you need a videographer for - let me know!
While being a student at Royal Holloway, I also did some part-time jobs, such as SU Photographer, Senior Ambassador, and Sports Centre Assistant, so I got to meet all the different areas of the Uni. My proudest moment at Royal Holloway was making the 24/25 Varsity video for the SU, which had a turnaround of two days after filming, and was screened at Colours Ball 2025, a truly amazing experience.
Why I ran…
I ran for the role because my work at Royal Holloway isn’t done. I have spoken with many students about the issues they face at the University, which I want to address, making their experience at Royal Holloway as good as mine was. I also want to connect with as many students as possible and tell their stories through engaging videos.
Aims/Manifesto
This year, all the Sabbs will be focusing on Priority 8. The two priorities I will be taking the lead on are:
- Push for more student-friendly timetables
- Since Wednesdays are known for being days of fixtures, I will try to eliminate lectures during those days, or at least have lectures that are recorded, so if students can’t attend due to a fixture, they can still look back on them.
- Many students complain about having too many lectures one after another, so I will work with university staff to space them out.
- Make SU events more affordable
- I am going to provide students with the breakdown of where their money goes when they purchase something from the SU, like the summer ball breakdown.
- I am also going to push for various offers during nights out to reduce the overall cost of going out on an SU Club night.
I’m excited for/looking forward to…
I am excited to work with all the societies and sport clubs on their events throughout the year and want to emphasise the various campaigns that I will be running with the other Sabbs, like MENtion it, alongside the work I will be doing with Priority 8.
I also want to create two short film projects, one for Sports clubs and another for Societies, where they share their experiences throughout the year, which we will be screening during Colours ball and Society Awards.
Top tips
My top tip for students is to sign up for any sport club or society that piques your interest because you might just fall in love with it. You won’t get another opportunity quite like this: where over 140 societies and more than 35 sports clubs are right at your fingertips, all in one place. It’s a rare chance to try something completely new, meet people outside your course, and find a community that makes your university experience truly unforgettable, so give it a try!!

Looking forward to meeting so many of you over the next year!
