Within this blog your co-leads are going to tell you what this week means to them. This week encourages everyone to pause, reflect, and prioritise self-care through empowering events designed to support and uplift. Love Yourself Week provides the perfect opportunity to embrace all aspects of self-love.

LOVE YOURSELF WEEK IS BACK!! Within this blog your co-leads are going to tell you what this week means to them.  

Just for some context this week is dedicated to help you prioritise self-love, self-care, and mental wellbeing. 

Words from Liv (President): 

Hiya everyone! I am so excited that Love Yourself Week is back this year. This was one of my favourite weeks last year, it was so wholesome and I loved running this with Jess and I cannot wait to co-lead with Vaishnavi and Bana this year <3 

To quote myself last year “When I started researching Love Yourself Week, I literally wrote into Google, ‘What is self love?’ and Google said, “Self-love is the appreciation and respect you have for yourself, and the actions you take to support your wellbeing. It involves valuing yourself and treating yourself with kindness and empathy”. I read this and I couldn’t really decide what direction I wanted to go with this week, because being completely honest with you, I feel like a bit of a hypocrite writing a blog about self love and self care when I can sit here and say I definitely do not always prioritise this. I don’t know about you but throughout my whole time at university, and even in this job, if I was ever really busy, self love and self care became the thing that I didn’t prioritise because I just found it easy to "forget". I would love to sit here and say that I have come leaps and bounds since last year but that is not fully true. I have added in small changes like journalling every day and taking some more time for myself to just breathe. So I am still going on my self care journey, one step at a time, and I think this is why I wanted to run this week again this year.  

Self love and self care are a journey which I am definitely still on, and the hardest part is starting this journey and that can start this week, whether you want to come to all our Love Yourself events or even just one this can be the week that you start prioritising YOU!

You are your best friend, and taking time for some self-care is so important! This week is filled with reminders and events for you to take a break not because you 'earned it' but because you deserve it regardless. This week is all about reflection, rest and the celebration of yourself.  

I was inspired to run this campaign after realising how many of us are carrying so much quietly, and how powerful it can be to pause together. 

You owe yourself the same kind of care you give others, because you are cool like that! See you soon!

Love Yourself Week is quite an important reminder that in the midst of all the chaos and the stresses of the world, it is important to also focus on yourself and self care. Especially as a student, I believe many students forget the importance of self love & care. I find that sometimes having a day to just unwind, watch a movie, do face masks and hair care, helps set me up for the week. 

I always believed that if you look good, you will feel good and so you will do great! 

Last year, Olivia, ran this campaign and it really showed me how many students tend to lose their spark in the midst of all the stress. So, this year I am honored to have the opportunity to be part of this campaign and remind students the importance of self love.
