Overview
As part of MENtion It this year, we want to highlight some of the great things our students are doing across campus to raise money for Movember (aside from the sudden appearances of Mustaches). You can check out all the events we are running as a Students’ Union here, but we also want to show off our Student Group success stories.
I’ve been speaking with the Drama Society to bring you the first in this series of blogs to highlight the event they recently held to raise money for charity, and you can see what we talked about below!
What made your student group want to get involved with Movember?
Getting involved with Movember allowed drama society the opportunity to raise awareness for men’s health, engage with the community, and express creativity for a good cause. It was a chance to build a sense of unity and a desire to give back within our society especially as this wonderful cause makes a real difference in men’s lives.
What was the event you ran?
We hosted an event where members were invited to pin the mustache on the committee members (and used funny photos of committee) as well as cupcake decorating and encouraged members to design a mustache onto their cupcake. We also played a Movember themed Kahoot which people found nostalgic and fun but was also really informative and make us engage with real facts about the Movember charity.
Do you have any other plans for Movember?
We are planning on organizing another event later on in November!! We want to generate as much interest as possible so we can raise even more money for this important charity!!
