>> About the NSS

The National Student Survey (NSS) is a survey that is given to almost all final year Undergraduate students in the UK. The results from the survey can be assessed by universities and directly impact what the University chooses to prioritise.

Even at the SU, we use some NSS data, alongside Rate Your Union and Staff-Student Action Meetings, to determine the Priority 8 that students had the chance to vote on by what issues were raised the most. This is why if you are eligible, you should fill out the NSS! As a thank you, the University is also providing a free Class of 2026 t-shirt when you show them your NSS confirmation email.

>> What change has it made?

The University point to several things including:

  • Extra support with the cost of living.

  • Lower prices on campus.

  • Improved assessment scheduling.

  • Improving what and how we teach.

  • More social spaces.

  • Lots more support for students commuting onto campus.

  • Enhancements to our Library.
