Next week is Financial Support Week and I am so excited to be working with Matthew and the Money Advice team to be bringing you a week packed with practical tools, expert advice, and resources to help you manage your money. Each day will have a different theme that relates to financial support. So, we have ‘Money Talks Monday’, ‘Budget Tracker Tuesday’, ‘We’ve Got You Wednesday’, ‘Tips and Tricks Thursday’ and ‘Future Friday’. I am so excited for this week as I might have mentioned before I LOVE a campaign so the fact that I get to do one all about my priority makes me so happy!

On the 14 November Matthew and I have been asked to speak at the Westminster Higher Education Forum policy conference on their session entitled ‘Financial sustainability and long-term funding of UK higher education’. More specifically we will be talking about immediate priorities for sector financial sustainability and stability including the rising cost of learning crisis, the Post 16 Education and Skills white paper, maintenance and tuition fees etc. We will update you after on how it goes!

I think for me the most exciting thing that is happening regarding this priority is as part on Financial Support Week on the 12 November ‘We’ve Got You Wednesday’ we are launching ‘Community Cupboards’. These are pantry style cupboards filled with nonperishable food and household goods stocked by RHSU, the SU Shop and the University that student have free and unlimited access too. We are launch four cupboards one in Tommy’s Lounge in the SU Building, one in Windsor Student Lounge, one in Wettons Student Lounge and one in Shilling Student Lounge. I would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at the SU and University that has support this initiative and I really hope these are useful for you!
