Priority 8 Update: VP Education
I've continued being busy working on my Priority 8, so read below to see what I have been up to on each!

Priority 8: Increasing Social and Study Spaces
- I've been working closely with Emma Mayhew, Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Education and Student Experience, to figure out what spaces on campus could work well as common rooms and quiet areas, and you'll be able to see spaces open for the start of next Academic Year.
- I've kept pushing for more student lounges across campus, with London Campus now getting one and more planned for Egham.
- I've been advocating for neurodiverse-friendly spaces on campus, working with the library and students to explore what this could look like.
- I've secured some great local partnerships, so students and student groups can now book space and study at the Egham Literary Institute, Pride Hub, Same Beare Hospice and Bookshop, and Englefield Green Hub!
- This work is going really well and, as a result, this priority wasn't put on the ballot again.
- I'll keep working closely with the Students' Union staff and the University when I'm President to make sure all the planned work keeps moving forward.
Priority 8: Reducing Deadline-Stacking
- The recommendations from our December focus groups have been shared in the Student Voice Bulletin, covering things like better communication for joint honours students, releasing deadline dates in optional module booklets, and improving personal tutor support.
- I'm working with University staff to review the guidance given to both staff and students about what a personal tutor's role actually involves — the aim is to have this wrapped up and in place by the start of the 2026/27 Academic Year.
- I'm also exploring ways to help students visualise their deadlines more clearly through data tools.
- I'm making sure everything is in a great place to be handed over smoothly at the start of the next Officer terms in July to Josh Walker as your next VP Education.
