An Update from Delilah

Hey there, it’s Delilah! Your PDA School Rep for 2025/26.

So far this term, I have run a “welcome back” event for the Faculty of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences in collaboration with the LSS School Rep, Josh; run the PDA stand at the Academic Rep Fair to meet you all, and share what it’s like to be a rep; and hosted a Wassail event on campus with Morris dancing and live music!

Last term, I represented the PDA school at both the WCD and Ed execs, manned the Academic Representation stand at Freshers’ Fair, assisted with a PDA crafternoon, attended town halls and held my own, and discussed initiatives and projects for PDA students with Insanity Radio.

Throughout the academic year, I have also been voicing and recording student concerns in both SSAMs and the RH100 panels, catching up with departmental and SU staff on student-facing issues, and supporting with priority 8.

With staff, I have been discussed matching module weightings to their workloads, departmental spaces, assessment feedback loops, and core modules. My main focusses are communication both between staff and students and between departments; ensuring students have spaces to study, socialise, and relax on campus; organising opportunities for PDA students to interact, collaborate, and share with one-another; and fostering a community within our school!

Want to be part of the team? Sign up to be a course rep now and join us in bridging the gap between staff and our fellow students. It’s a great opportunity to represent your peers, looks fab on your CV, and gives you useful transferable skills!

If you have any feedback, comments, queries, or concerns, just drop me a message on the PDA School Instagram or email. Alternatively, if you see me about on campus, feel free to stop me for a chat!

What’s Happening Across the PDA School?

Over in the PDA School there has been a lot of work to run engaging events which aid in the transition into Faculties. For example, the Faculty held a student-led neurodiversity sharing session in March. The Faculty will also be running a series of co-writing sessions both in-person and online and later this term there will be an Iftar celebration on behalf of the Faculty.

Staff in the Faculty have also been encouraging students to use the EDI Student Initiative which provides reimbursement for expenses used to run EDI projects and activities.

In Music, the department have been listening to student feedback and introducing a range of new initiatives. In particular, the department have purchased more music stands, microphones, amps, and orchestral instruments for students to use in their studies. They have also expanded their scheme of placements including making the ‘Thinking Music’ scheme open to more students.
