We are aware of the recent proposed changes to the Turnitin terms of service to allow student work to be used to train AI models. We are deeply concerned by these proposals, and we have requested to meet with senior leaders at the University to discuss this urgently.
We understand other Student Unions have raised similar concerns. We know that this is a subject that matters to our students in particular, given in the last academic year some of our students led a campaign against the use of generative AI in art.
