Royal Holloway Students’ Union is delighted to announce the appointment of Suzy Stevenson as Chief Executive Officer following an extensive and diligent search.

Suzy Stevenson, a senior leader with significant experience gained from roles in national governing bodies including Swim England and Volleyball England, joins the Students’ Union on 4 July 2022.

Speaking of the appointment, RHSU President Henn Warwick said: “Suzy is a natural and accomplished leader who is dedicated to the empowerment of staff and students around her. She has a significant understanding of a student-led organisation and is incredibly values-driven, and she demonstrated her passion for Royal Holloway when she attended a match at Varsity and took home a Bears t-shirt. Suzy displayed great leadership qualities and was particularly enthusiastic about working on equality, diversity, and inclusion at RHSU.”

In her most recent role as Head of Engagement at Derby Union of Students, Suzy transformed the way the organisation delivered against its strategy, contributing to a staggering rise in the What Uni Students’ Union league table from 116th to 24th during her tenure.

Speaking on her appointment, Suzy said: “I am thrilled to be joining RHSU as the new CEO and to be tasked with leading the organisation from the success achieved to date, to ever greater heights. I am incredibly passionate about the impact of students' unions and am looking forward to joining the skilled and dedicated officers and staff team to further grow and develop as an organisation to meet the ever-changing needs of our members.

“It is an absolute privilege to work alongside students and values-led staff with a desire to change the world around them, and in partnership with the College and local community, I cannot wait to see the impact we can have.”

The Board of Trustees is confident that Suzy is the individual that can drive RHSU forward, providing inspirational leadership across the Union, building strong relationships with our colleagues in the University, and tackling the challenges we face as the world emerges from the COVID-19 pandemic.
