Do you have old, unwanted textbooks lying around? Struggling to find the space for them all? On Thursday 7 October, we're holding a second-hand academic book sale where you can earn money from your unwanted books.

How does it work?

Basically, you'll let us know how much you want the books on sale for and which department they are for. Afterwards, we’ll record all the details and keep hold of your books. On the day of the sale, we put all books out on display for students to browse and buy. If it sells, you keep 100% of the money! So, not only are you making some money, but you are also helping your fellow students out with great deals on the books they need. (Psst. reselling books is super sustainable too!)

All books will have a price on the front, but for really key textbooks there could be multiple copies of the same book, so remember to price your books competitively! We recommend checking other second-hand book websites such as AbeBooks, Amazon, and eBay to see the current and resale price of your book. We will also be accepting course-specific items e.g. sheet music.

At our last academic sale back in 2019, we managed to put a whopping total of £5690 back into students' pockets by selling a staggering 494 books!

Who can sell books?

This year we're accepting books from all students. So, whether you’re graduating, have already graduated, entering your second or postgraduate year – this is an opportunity for anyone who wants to make some money selling their unwanted textbooks.

When and where should I drop my books off?

On Monday 4 and Tuesday 5 October, students can drop their books off at Medicine between 12:00-15:00.

What happens once you've sold my books?

We will send you an email to confirm we’ve sold your books. You'll then need to complete a form so that we can transfer the money to you via BACS.

What happens if my books don't sell?

We will send you an email to let you know your books didn’t sell, and you can come and collect them from Medicine on Wednesday 13 or Thursday 14 October between 12:00-14:00.

If some of your books sell but others don't, we'll transfer the money via BACS for the ones that sold and you can collect the rest.
