Turn Your Unwanted Books Into Cash

We'll be returning with another second-hand academic book sale in October, and we're offering graduating students the chance to drop their books off before the summer.

If you're graduating this summer and can't wait to see the back of some of your textbooks, we may have the perfect solution for you!

On Friday 4 October we'll be holding another second hand academic book sale, and we're offering final year students the chance to drop their unwanted books off before graduation. If your books sell, you'll be quids in!

How does it work?

Basically, you'll let us let us know how much you want the books on sale for and which department they are for. Afterwards, we record all the details and keep hold of your books. On the day of the sale, we put all books out on display for students to browse and buy.

All books will have a price on the front, and we would expect there to be multiple copies of the same book, so remember to prices your books competitively! We recommend checking places like Amazon to see the current price of a new copy.

We will also be accepting course-specific items e.g. sheet music.

Our last book sale saw a staggering £5488 go back into students' pockets from 485 books sold.

When can I drop my books off?

On Wednesday 5 June, graduating students can drop their books off at the Students' Union Main Hall between 12:00-15:00, and we'll store them for you over the summer. If you can't make that date and will still be in the area come October, you'll be more than welcome to drop them off then.

I'm not a final year student but I still want to sell my books

Fear not, you'll still be more than welcome to sell your books but you'll have to wait until the new academic year to drop your books off (exact dates and times TBC).

What happens if my books sell?

We will send you an email to confirm we’ve sold your books, and you can come and collect your cash from the SU on Wednesday 10 or Thursday 11 October between 12:00-14:00.

What if my books don't sell?

We will send you an email to let you know your books didn’t sell, and you can come and collect them from the SU on Wednesday 10 or Thursday 11 October between 12:00-14:00.

If some books sell but others don't, you will be able to collect the cash for your sold ones, and collect your unsold books at the same time.
