About us
Welcome to Pokemon Society 2023/24!
PokéSoc is a warm, welcoming society or people of all backgrounds to come together & enjoy the Pokémon franchise.
Whether you collect the trading cards, play the video games, or enjoy Pokémon Go, we plan a range of casual social events, for our members to enjoy. This includes Nintendo gaming nights, minigame nights, quiz nights, art competitions and pub nights.
This year, we're excited to have within our committee our first ever Tournament Officer whose role is devoted to organising competitive events for our members in TCG, Pokémon Showdown and more. If you're interested in the competitive side of Pokémon Gaming then we have many opportunities for you!
Here in Pokémon Society we do not gatekeep or condone gatekeeping - everybody is welcome regardless of their knowledge and familiarity with Pokémon and the franchise. Whether you know a lot or nothing at all, we hope you'll feel comfortable at our events and make friends within our society!
Membership
Our membership system is as follows:
£5 is the standard membership, one of the cheapest memberships on campus, that allows your free access to our socials (including some prize-grabbing opportunities!) and our exclusive discord server.
£12 Premium Top-up, which is for more devoted fans of the franchise and comes with some small gifts, a deck for the Trading Card Game, as well as a discount on some secret stuff we are working on!
Events and Activities
We generally meet twice a week — on Tuesday nights and on a weekend.
On Tuesday nights, we meet on campus from 7pm to 9pm/10pm and our activities range from casual socials such as minigames to competitive events like Trading Card Gaming to casual Nintendo gaming and other social activties.
Saturdays range from movie nights, Murder Mysteries and Pokémon Showdown too. Members can stay updated through our Instagram and our Discord.
Sundays include running events bimonthly for every pokemon GO community day!
