About us
Russian Speaking Society (RSS) is a multicultural community bringing together Russian speakers and anyone interested in the cultures and communities connected through the Russian language.
Our community includes students from Russia, Central Asia, Eastern Europe, the Caucasus and beyond, as well as non-Russian speakers who simply want to get involved.
We aim to make university life more connected, engaging and memorable through cultural events, sports, trips, professional opportunities, collaborations and community activities throughout the year.
Whether you speak Russian fluently, are learning the language, or don’t speak it at all — everyone is welcome.

Football Team Add-on
For members who want to represent RSS on the pitch, our Football Team Add-On provides access to the Society’s football activities and competitive campus league participation.The add-on contributes towards:
- Ability to purchase RSS football kit
- Entry into campus league fixtures and competitions
- Participation in the RSS football team
- Team activities throughout the term
Events and Activities
RSS runs a varied programme throughout the year, bringing together cultural, recreational, sporting, professional and community activities.
Our activities may include welcome events, cultural celebrations, Mafia and game nights, pub quizzes, trips, football, professional workshops, networking opportunities, karaoke, Halloween and seasonal events, London activities, collaborations with other societies, awards and special member events.
Our programme evolves throughout the year, with members having opportunities to help shape what RSS does next.
