Tolkien

Welcome to Tolkien Society!

We are a friendly and open fellowship devoted to the works of J.R.R.Tolkien and those inspired by him. Whether you are an avid fan who's read the entire History of Middle Earth, you love fantasy and sci-fi, or you just saw the Fellowship once and thought it was cool, you are sure to find new friends and fun events that interest you in Tolkien Society. So why not come along, meet new people, learn new stuff, and have lots of fun at the various events, trips and gatherings we hold throughout the year!

Socials & Activities

Aside from our regular weekly meetings we have plenty of other activities and socials planned for the year ahead! Some examples are:

  • A bunch of trips around the UK - including a visit to the Hobbit Pub in Southampton, a day trip exploring Tolkien's Oxford, and convention trips
  • Collaborations with other societies at RoHo so we can offer a wide range of exciting activities such as archery and special readings
  • Baking competitions, pub quizzes, gaming sessions, and plenty of film screenings
  • We are also inviting staff at RoHo to host some mini-lectures and language workshops. For example, learning Elvish, Old English, runeology, and others
  • Finally, we love to hear what you want to do! Feel free to leave suggestions on Facebook, Twitter or drop us an Email.

The range of activities we offer means that you are guaranteed to have lots of fun and find people you can relate to!

Regular meetings

We generally meet on Wednesdays from 18.00, in the Arts building. The meetings may involve anything from film screenings and relaxed pizza nights to quizzes, debates and pub socials! Feel free to come along!
