Introducing the new RHSU awareness campaign: Anti Artificial! Celebrating art made by humans, for humans.
The objective of the Anti Artificial campaign is to both lobby with the Students’ Union for them to work and maintain an anti-generative AI policy amongst all their social platforms, and to educate and bring awareness to students about the problems with generative AI in art. The lobbying aspect will have long term impacts, and the awareness week will consist of various events to give you the opportunity to be creative and make some art. We also highly encourage societies and sports on campus to be wary of how they create their social media posts and to avoid using AI in the process.
Throughout the week, you will have the opportunity to participate in numerous creative events all throughout campus. We will start the week with a warm and cosy Studio Ghibli Watch Party in the SU. As the week progresses you can learn a new skill or have fun with some art! If you are part of a Society or Sport, we highly encourage you to pop along to our Beginner Canva session to learn more about making Instagram posts without the use of AI.
We will also have numerous creative events such as the Anti Gen-AI recreation sessions where we recreate AI trends with human craft, along with an Anti Artificial Art Week Mural that people can come along and make their mark! We are collaborating with the Hall Life Team and hosting a badge making session. We are also very excited to have Surrey-based artist Camila Aguais come along to host a Figure & Portrait Drawing Session in The Picture Gallery.
Don’t miss out on this new and ever more prevalent week! Regardless of medium, skill, technique, or background, you can join any of the events and we will always encourage creativity. The more that people know about the issues with Generative AI, the bigger the fight against it will be.
