Women's Gym Hours is open to all who identify as women, including trans women and to non-binary people who feel comfortable in a women-centred space.
The programme was implemented in response to the results of a survey conducted in 2024/25 by Olivia Davies, VP Wellbeing and Diversity at the time, and the Voice team. 99% of respondents stated that they wanted some type of women's sports hours. The survey demonstrated that there was a student community need to consider implementing a women's session in the gym.
Following these findings, and in collaboration with ALS, the Women’s Learn 2 Lift class was launched every Tuesday throughout January. This was followed by a trial of Women’s Gym Hours in February, which continued into March and it has now become a permanent feature every Wednesday and Friday between 9:00am - 10:00am!
Originally named Women’s Only Gym Hours, the programme name was updated to Women’s Gym Hours following the recent Supreme Court ruling, ensuring the initiative remained inclusive and welcoming to all who identify as women, including trans women and non-binary people who feel comfortable in the space.
Your Goals, Your Pace, Your Space.
