Women's History Month.

March

Since 1987, March has marked Women’s History Month. In 2018, Royal Holloway SU takes this opportunity to join in with the celebrations and commemorations in line with this year’s theme – ‘Nevertheless She Persisted’.

The theme brings about a sense of… well, persistence. It’s the idea of success in the face of constant adversity, that despite every trial and barrier, that women have pushed themselves through such difficulties and raised themselves to excellence regardless.

International Women's Day Brunch: 8th March; The Packhorse; Head down to The Packhorse to have brunch that will be hosted by Feminism Society, and get to meet new people!

International Women's Day: Zine Making Workshop: 8th March; Moore 002/3; Head down to Moore 002/3 for an evening full of arts and crafts with Feminism Society and create a magazine!

Paint A Kindness Rock!: 11th March; Tommy's Lounge; As part of Women’s History Month, we are encouraging all students to paint a kindness rock with inspirational messages to give to your friends.

FemSoc Lecture Series: Gendered Histories: 13th March; Founder's Lecture Theatre; Feminism Society talk about gender roles, the erasure of gender, and socially-engaged museum practice.

In Conversation: Lijia Zhang: 20th March; Founder's Lecture Theatre; Join us for a conversation with factory worker turned journalist, social commentator, public speaker, Lijia Zhang.

In Conversation: Professor Katie Normington: 21st March; Shilling Lecture Theatre; An informal conversation with Katie Normington, about the importance of female leadership in academia.

FemSoc Lecture Series: Jane Hamlett: 27th March; Founder's Lecture Theatre; A lecture about Jane Hamlett's research into student life and student rooms at Bedford College in the 1890s, hosted by Feminism Society.
