Through our Democracy Review, you told us you wanted to be able to feed in to all aspects of the Students’ Union, and we're delighted to be able to provide just that opportunity with the creation of SDGs!
As part of our Democracy Review, we’ve been looking at areas of the Students’ Union where we currently lack as much student input as we need. As well as leading our campaigning and representation work, we also think it’s important that students have a say on the services we provide – shaping what we do and how we do it. We’ve identified four key areas where having more of a student voice can significantly improve what we do:
A Service Development Group is simply a collection of students, student staff and permanent staff, who come together regularly to help us make better decisions on things ranging from Summer Ball, to the items we stock in the Union Shop, to how we can improve the Union App. They’re more than a focus group, because we want to involve them in all of our planning and priority setting work.
For each group, we’re looking for six student members.
The roles are voluntary and while some knowledge of the subject area would be useful, we’re also keen to hear from those of you who just want to make sure that students have a voice. When you’re putting together your application, keep our values in mind (student focused, high quality, brave, inclusive and trustworthy), but you'll also need to be:
You can apply in just a few clicks via our website.
You don’t need to attach a CV, but in order for us to identify and shortlist the best candidates, we’re asking you to attach a single side of A4 with answers to the following questions:
You can find out more about what is involved, and what you'll gain from the experience, by heading to our Work With Us page and checking out the recruitment pack.
