European Students

  • Welcome !

Welcome to the European Students Society, a Society open to anyone !

  • Who are  we ?

Created in March 2017, the European Students Society aims to campaign for the rights and freedoms of European students post Brexit at Royal Holloway.

Although we accept the result of the Referendum, we are campaigning to:

  • Make European Students feel welcome, in a hostile post-Brexit environment. The United Kingdom is an open country, and always has been, and we aim to campaign for it to continue to be one.
  • We believe that the right to work and to move around the Union is extremely important, and for students who undertake courses that include ERASMUS and EU research funding, the co-operation we have with EU countries is essential.

  • We believe that, even though the United Kingdom will no longer be a member of the European Union, positive co-operation and relationships with the EU is essential, which is why the European Union flag is retained in the logo.

  • Finally, we believe that everyone, no matter where they come from, or how different we all are, have something to contribute to society. We stand against racism, xenophobia and nationalism.

Completing this, we are also planning a lot of different kind of event this year, including exciting trips to Europe, eg. a trip to the European Court of Justice of Luxembourg in December 11th - 14th, but also a potential trip to Berlin in summer term.

"Political" events and notably a roundtable on Brexit and the future of the UK with MEP Seb Dance, next November 10th.

Without mentioning, various events such as, CIYS (Come In Your Soc) which is a themed society night out happening every term, but also classic Film nights, Wine & Cheese nights, and also some European "aperitifs", gathering different food from all around Europe, our European Histroy week in January and finally, our first ever "Europa Fest" at the end of May, all of this in order to celebrate and spread European Culture at Royal Holloway !

Of course, If you would like to get involved in the society, don't hesitate to message our Facebook Page !
