To celebrate the nation theme for this year Women’s History Month, “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future,” we are excited to highlight how women have upheld and championed sustainability in past, present and future.

Women’s History Month has arrived and with it, the time to reflect and look forward, with sustainability in mind. This month is led by your SU President, Olivia Davies, your VP Wellbeing and Diversity, Vaishnavi Vajja, your 2025-26 Women Students Community Officer, Bana Asqalan, and SU Campaigns Assistant, Poppy Coates.

As with previous Women’s History Months, we have curated four themed weeks centred around the national theme in order to celebrate the incredible work of women in years gone by, women championing change now, and looking forward to a sustainable future.

Week 1: Women in leadership. Come with us as we highlight women who have thrived in their respective fields and who have led the way both here at Royal Holloway and beyond. Talk to influential women here at Royal Holloway and manifest your own goals with our manifestation/vision board workshop.

Week 2: Sustainability. Discover the vital role that women have played in ensuring future generations have an environment in which to thrive and succeed by implementing and championing change that will stand the test of time. Join us for litter picking with Royal Holloway Volunteering and a sustainable cardboard craft event as we delve into what sustainability might look like.

Week 3: Herstory. Even as we look to the future, it is crucial to also look backwards and highlight some of the women who made history. This week focuses on delving into the stories of women who have come before us, whether that’s with our Write a Letter to an Inspirational Women event or attending our movie night film screening.

Week 4: Connection. Women’s History Month is all about community and connection, which is why our final week is centred around just that. We invite you to connect with the Royal Holloway community as we celebrate the end of this month with our Community Mingle event.

We hope you join us in celebrating the extraordinary women who have led with sustainability in mind and promoted inclusion and empowerment.

We hope you enjoy this month with us, and here’s to a wonderful Women’s History Month!
