Security Operation Review

We're conducting a review of our night time security operation and need your feedback.

Of all the services we provide here at RHSU, our late night venues are definitely the one that engages the highest number of students. An absolutely enormous number of you attend our club nights multiple times a week, and one of the areas we get the most feedback on is the security systems that are run at these big events.

As a not-for-profit, membership run organisation, you already know that we make every effort to give students a chance to input into any big strategic changes or large scale projects that we take on. Ultimately, our goal is to make your life as a student at Royal Holloway as fun, easy and positive as possible, so these initiatives are hugely important to us.

This year, one such project is a full scale review of our security system, to ensure that it is operating at the highest (and most student focused) level possible. In order to successfully conduct this review, we need feedback from every source, and that includes our student body.

Naturally, we are limited in the operating systems that are suitable and adequate for a club venue that runs close to capacity and by the building itself. However, we may decide to adjust some elements of our model having explored other options and looked at methods that are popular with other Students’ Unions running club nights.

As part of this process, we would like to invite any keen students who love a good night out at the SU or Medicine, to respond to a few questions on what could potentially improve our current security system.

Now, this may not sound like the most exciting survey in the world, but given that so many of you provide comments on our security operation on a weekly basis, we are now giving you the chance to have your say and contribute to the discussion!

So make sure you fill in the questions below by Friday 9 February and encourage friends, housemates, and anyone else you can find (as long as they actually study at Royal Holloway) to do the same.
