Study week for many academic departments meant that we had a quiet BUCS Wednesday this week. However, we still had plenty of great action and results from home and away Bears on this wet and chilly afternoon. Most fixtures were the first round of cup competitions so it will be great to see teams go far in their competitions!

What Went Down?

After a scintillating win on Monday evening, the Women's Hockey 1st team continued their good form by knocking Imperial 1st out of the BUCS Cup. The late push-back to a 6pm start didn't put off the girls as they won 5-4 on penalties after tying 1-1 in regulation time.

I was able to move around and watch our home fixtures since there were less than usual, and the Men's Badminton 1st team did not disappoint. As stated in their Instagram post, they "showed no mercy" as they won 8-0 against Bucks in the last 32 of the BUCS Cup. The Men’s Basketball team also impressed as they made it three wins in a row after beating Imperial 91-84 in a tightly contested match.

The standout win came from the Women’s Football first Xl who annihilated RUMS 17-1 (yes, you read that correctly) on the 3G. Congratulations to them and especially to Sophia Demetriou (pictured front row, centre) who netted a staggering EIGHT goals! The final home fixture saw the Netball third team secure a 36-26 win in the sports hall away from the cold outside.

Once again, well done to all teams involved this week, Megan is on the case to re-arrange the games not played over study week. The interaction and cohesiveness between ourselves and the clubs has been fantastic this year - thank you for submitting scores and team sheets so efficiently and for keeping us updated on the things occurring within your club – let’s keep it going!

Just a little reminder, keep posting images on social media as we love to see what you're getting up to! We also want to start featuring more content from our sports teams so please email me if you have anything you'd like us to post. Whether it's match reports, player profiles, match highlights or anything else, we'd love to hear from you!
