What time is it? It’s representation time!

Over the next three weeks, the student body will be filling over 400 representative positions from across the University as academic reps, Collective convenors, and Student Executive members.

What positions are up for grabs?

  • Academic reps – course reps (voluntary basis), department reps (elected), and the school rep for the School of Performing and Digital Arts (elected) who will improve the academic experience for all students across the University.
  • Collective convenors – giving a voice to underrepresented groups on campus, convenors head up our Collectives. They are responsible for organising activities, events and campaigns, and sometimes work alongside the elected Officers to represent their groups across the University.
  • Sports, Societies and Opportunities Executive members – sit on committees responsible for the development, scrutiny, and maintenance of policy and plans in their area, identifying where work should be undertaken. This included core purposes such as student group ratification and the annual allocation round.

What are these Collectives and Executives all about?

A very good question! The Students' Union is here to represent your views so that your time studying at Royal Holloway is a positive and enjoyable experience. By being the collective voice of students, we are able to tackle pressing issues, lobby for social change, and campaign on your behalf - using your views and opinions as guidance.

You can find out all about Collectives and Student Executives here.

VP Wellbeing & Diversity Henn Warwick and VP Education Alissa Chohan also wrote a blog about Collectives which is definitely worth checking out.

How do I get involved?

This depends on what you’re interested in getting involved in.

If you’re interested in being a course rep, simply fill out a form and attend your induction training, then you’ll be good to go!

Volunteer to become a course rep

If you’re interested in becoming a Collective convenor, department rep, or the School Rep for the School of Performing and Digital Arts, please head to our elections platform and follow the instructions.

The entire elections process takes place online - nominations are now open and close at 4pm on Thursday 8 October.

Even if you don't want to run for a position, it's really important that you get involved and vote for someone you feel will effectively represent your views. Voting will open on Monday 12 October at 10am, closing at 4pm on Wednesday 14 October.

Just a reminder for returning students and academic reps from the 2019/20 year, you will need to put yourself forward for the position again if you’re interested in continuing the role!
