The Students’ Union can today announce that Zee Iqbal has resigned from his elected position as Vice President Wellbeing and Diversity with immediate effect.

In a short statement, Zee said: “This decision was not taken lightly, but I felt it was necessary in order to focus on my own mental health and wellbeing.

“I would like to thank all the students who have positively engaged with me, and my fellow sabbatical officers for their support, during my time in office.

“Royal Holloway will always have a special place in my heart, and I would like to thank the College for the opportunities it has provided me with.”

We appreciate that students may be concerned about what will happen with the portfolio of work that belongs to the Vice President Wellbeing and Diversity. We would like to assure you that the Students’ Union’s Senior Management Team are reviewing the next steps with the remainder of the Officer Team to ensure that the responsibilities of the role are covered throughout the rest of this academic year. We continually strive to look after students’ wellbeing, promoting liberation campaigns, ensuring underrepresented groups are supported, and defending the rights of our diverse membership.
