Hi everyone! I wanted to let you know about a really exciting new resource available on Freshdesk: the Student Group Sustainability Guide!

Sustainability is a huge passion of mine and one of my priorities for this year. This guide was sponsored by myself and Prof. Liz Schafer (a drama lecturer) and written by an RHUL student, Lidia Ballocchi. I am so excited to share this guide with you as putting it together was such a passion project for me. After doing Carbon Literacy Training (run by academics at Royal Holloway), I realised that we didn't have any resources on Freshdesk about sustainability so I made a pledge to create one to empower committee members to organise events in a way that reduces their carbon footprint. The guide covers a wide arrange of event types from performing arts to sports events and includes lots of super helpful tips on ‘green’ event planning.

If you're part of a society or sports club, I would highly encourage you to read the guide and sit down with your committees to discuss how you could incorporate it into your event planning. We're also working on trying to incentivise the use of the guide, potentially through prizes and awards so watch this space!
