Royal Holloway Rounders:

Unlike a lot of clubs on campus, Rounders can really offer a special and unique experince. We are a unisex club with both men and women being able to take part in the same training sessions and compete in the same team. Rounders in it's very nature isn't very competitve and we don't compete in any leagues, we only take part in friendlies with other Unis. This allows us to create a more social environment where there is less pressure to get into the team though the team remains a competitive one. We've seen great success in the past year earning our first victories both home and away and we'd love to welcome you into our squad regardless of your skill set since Rounders is a game and not a sport and games should always be fun!

Due to Covid-19, a lot of teams on campus cannot function or train in the way they once did. Luckily with Rounders we have not be too badly affected by this. We can still carry out training sessions and games with up to 30 people in attendance. We take the welfare of our members very seriously and have all the necessary sanitising equipment and social distancing precautions in place. This will not impact our playing too greatly since Rounders lends itself to social distancing.

Most of our socials this year will be held online due to Covid-19. Socials will be hosted regularly on various platforms such as Zoom and Discord, including events such as movie nights, quizzes and games nights. We will also be hosting smaller in person meets at locals pubs and venues in groups no larger than 6 people. Though Covid has put a large dampener on what we can do to socialise, Rounders has always been a welcoming, friendly and incredibly social club so settling in with us on Zoom or in person won't be difficult at all.

Charities And Fundraising

This year the club is looking to do a huge push toward supporting charities both on a large scale and on a smaller scale in the local community. We've already had an amazingly successful charity drive, walking over 600km and raising over £200 for the Stephen Lawrence Charitable Trust and Give Racism the Red Card. We're looking to exapnd what we give back to the local community by doing more events like these and others such as food bank collections. Since we are such a close knit and hard working club we always encourage our members to take part in such events to help give back to the community.
