Women Students

mEET YOUR cOMMUNITY oFFICER

Hi, I’m Poppy Coates (she/her) and I am a third year Psychology student. I have a particular interest in sex, sexuality and menstruation (key parts of my manifesto!)

I was originally nominated for the role of Women’s Student Community Officer, and that’s why I decided to run for the position. I wish to improve the experiences of women on campus, whether that be through increased distribution of free menstrual products or support for circumstances of a sexual nature. I would love to enact change that will benefit women across campus, and I cannot wait to get started!

Three of my main manifesto points I am hoping to achieve this year are looking at women and mental health I am also the president of Mentality, the mental health society on campus, and want to bring my two roles together. Next is making the issue of spiking better on campus and I am hoping to also get guest speakers to speak about the importance of women’s right and feminism. I also planning to work closely with societies especially the feminist society and well-being officers of other societies.
