Candidate for President

I am running for the position of Student Union President, and I firmly believe that I can make a difference in the way our union operates. As a student, I understand the challenges and concerns that we face on a daily basis, and I am committed to working towards creating solutions that will benefit the entire student body. I have carefully picked my areas of focus to ensure the students not only feel heard but also feel comfortable using it as a platform for their unified voice.

I have also served as the vice president of the Pakistan Society in my third year, thus establishing a good network among the student body. My vision is to integrate all three aspects of the student experience into one, where sports, academics, and wellbeing go hand in hand, and I want all three aspects to be worked on and maintained.

My main priorities, if elected, will be:

Improving communication between students and the administration might be the primary concern for most voters. This question came up when I voted for the first time in an SU election: will my voice be heard? If elected, I have taken it not only as an obligation but as a personal responsibility to assist students in carrying their voice and concerns to the administration.

Enhancing the student experience: I will strive to make the campus a more vibrant and inclusive place by organizing more student events and activities. This will help to create a sense of community and bring students together. I have noticed students across three years who have struggled to fit in to the student body, and having an immense focus on wellbeing and diversity, we would want to give priority to student wellbeing, especially due to its direct effect on academic performance.

Some other facilities that we have thought of working on are:

  • Working on the introduction of Santander Bikes.
  • More funding for charitable organizations and foundations.
  • Working on the reduction of food prices at dining halls for self-catered students.
  • Working with the student services to improve communication with international students.
  • Introducing working staff to maintain the cleanliness of university accommodations.

I hope my vision is large enough to share with you, my efforts will be tireless. I am hopeful that if elected, I will dedicate day and night to the betterment of my student body.

Thank You,

Malik Yahya Khan
