Executives: What Have They Been Up To? Part Two

After a very busy term, the Sabbatical Officers are excited to give you the lowdown on everything that has happened at this term's Executives!

Over the past few weeks, school reps, Collective convenors and Student Group members met with your VPs to discuss the projects that have been happening in the last few months and feeding into the direction of new streams of work.

Previously we updated you on what was to come from the second round Executives of the year, and now the Officers tell you all they've been up to so far!

What are the Executives?

Here’s what happened…

Education Executive

  • Fed into the new reports that department and school reps will be completing at the end of each academic year.
  • Planned exciting activities to foster inter-departmental relationships.
  • Discussed the next actions to progress the now published Student Voice Report into the BAME Inclusive Student Experience and received updates on the PGR and Careers policy inquiries.
  • Outlined areas of interest for the upcoming review of the Rep Recognition scheme.
  • Received an update about the second round of strikes taking place over the coming months.

Wellbeing, Community & Diversity Executive

  • Worked with your VP Sport, Dom Brown to identify opportunities to improve the access and inclusivity of the upcoming Varsity.
  • Received an update on the publication of the BAME Inclusive Student Experience Student Voice Report.
  • Outlined the next steps for the Executive’s Civic Rights Education campaign which will focus on housing, the Equalities Act and medical support.
  • Fed into the development of an Equality, Diversity and Inclusivity Policy Statement and received updates on a variety of campaigns.

Societies, Sports & Opportunities Executive

  • Ratified six new Student Groups: Skate, Accounting & Finance, Mentality, Qazaq, Make a Kid Smile, and Neurodivergent Support.
  • Over two weeks participated in an intense review of the Student Opportunities Membership Fee setting the direction Clubs and Societies across campus would like to see.
  • Fed into the upcoming Varsity, proposing some exciting new ideas to bring more students into the spaces and making them more accessible to commuting students.
