Union Shop Takeaway Launched

We're living in unprecedented times and understand the stress and worry lots of you are facing when it comes to shopping. That’s why we’re delighted to be launching Union Shop Takeaway - helping you get your hands on the essentials, from fruit and veg through to loo roll and soap.

We've worked with our suppliers to find a great selection of fresh fruit and veg, household items and more. If you're still living on or around campus, simply pick your items, add them to your basket, and collect from the Union Shop.

Visit our online shop

How does it work?

  1. Select your base box (Fruit & Veg, Essential, or Household)
  2. Add your essentials (choose from household items, dairy products, or protein to finish off your box)
  3. Confirm your pick-up (choose a time to collect your contactless order from one of our 15-minute slots)

Order Deadlines

Orders need to be placed by 09:00 every Monday to allow us to source products. The countdown timer on the product page will tell you when the next deadline is.

Collecting Your Order

All orders are collected from the EWD Building east exit, opposite the Arts Building. You'll need to show your College card or staff ID at the doors and a member of our team will deliver the box, contact-free.

If you have accessibility issues or are classed as high risk, please let the team know by emailing marketing@su.rhul.ac.uk. We'll contact you directly to arrange a bespoke pick-up/delivery of your order.

Order collection will take place every Friday. You'll be able to select from a 15 minute collection slots during check out.

Purchase Limits

To ensure all of our customers have an equal opportunity to purchase supplies, we've had to apply some product limits. Our boxes are limited to one box per week while all the add-ons are two per week.

Serving the Royal Holloway Community

We are utilising our supply chain to ensure students and essential staff on campus can get the supplies they need during the Covid-19 pandemic. That means you'll need to use a valid Royal Holloway email address when placing your order and you'll need to show your College card or staff ID at collection.

If you are classed as high-risk or have accessibility issues, we can offer contactless delivery on campus.

Should you self-identify as high-risk, we have two different options for you:

  • Click & Collect – if you are mobile and able to collect your order from the click and collect location, we can offer a specific window of collection slots to you. This will be between 09:00-11:00 on the designated collection day.
  • Delivery – for those who are unable to collect due to being high-risk, we are offering delivery within a three-mile radius of the main campus (TW20 0EX). Delivery slots will be limited in number and allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Customers who self-identify as high-risk will be required to email marketing@su.rhul.ac.uk prior to placing an order. We’ll then get in touch with you and confirm a couple of details including the timings of your delivery. All deliveries will be contactless.

Where a customer has identified they are in self-isolation, they should either:

  • Third Party Click & Collect - when checking out you have the ability to designate a third party to collect your order. Please ensure that if you are self-isolating, you do not leave your residence and you continue to comply with government Covid-19 guidance.
  • Delivery - we can offer delivery within a three-mile radius of the main campus (TW20 0EX) for a flat fee of £2.50. Delivery slots will be limited in number and allocated on a first come first serve basis.

Contactless Service

Our service model is fully built around a contactless service to reduce the risk of coronavirus transmission.

  • Click & Collect - Customers will collect their order from the east entrance to the EWD Building (opposite the Arts Building). They will need to approach the glass door and show their College card or staff ID. Our team then place your order by the door ready for you to collect.
  • Delivery - Our delivery staff will only attend the ground floor access point of a property, and will leave the order at the door. They will step back a minimum of two meters and wait to check that the order has been accepted. There is no requirement for signed deliveries, they will then leave the location and continue with deliveries.
