Chinese Philosophy

Welcome to RHUL Chinese Philosophy Society!

Hope you find it interesting to discover another part of the world and its thoughts.

Speaking of the world, perhaps we may ask: Where does Philosophy come from?

Yes, it does come from the Acient Greece, as it is a very important orgin of Philosophy. Also yes, Philosophy is a "gift", it comes into the mind, rather than being artificially "created". So it comes into the minds of all civilizations. And therefore all the different origins of Philosophy carry out their own distictive apporaches and entries (sometimes also exits), all parallel in history.

What "the world" means has been changing. And we (the people from different origins) are facing each others more and more often as strangers. So, many radical thinkers moved on. To take examples from the West, European Philosophers like Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Foucault, and Roland Barthes certainly attempted to understand the different narratives from the East side of the continent.

And we, the Chinese Philosophy Society, are dedicated to offer you our most authentic and original readings of the Philosophical history of China. We will give you a vision beyond what Edward Said criticized as "Orientalism"  -  we want it real.

Here, you have access to the Ancient Chinese world of thoughts, from Lao Zi's Daoist Universe and Politics in the Spring-Autum period to these cunning and eccentric Late Warring-States era Neo-Daoists and Syncretists.

We wish to be your inspiration for reading Philosophy worldwide; as every single civilization in the world is there ready to amaze you, with the very heart that is always shining. There, the world is truly a beautiful place.
